How to maintain my Area rug?

General Care

We recommend a suction vacuum for routine cleaning. Rotating brush cleaners may damage pile surface. For shag rugs, shaking the rug or using a vacuum with a nozzle attachment is best. Light marks or dirt can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Please follow all care instructions on your rug for best results.

Stains

Blot any liquid or spills immediately with a dry absorbent cloth or white paper towel. Some stains may be cleaned with a mixture of mild clear detergent and lukewarm water, or by using carpet shampoo.

Spills should never be scrubbed. Avoid excess water during cleaning, and dry the rug on a flat surface. Using harsh chemicals may damage your rug. Seek professional cleaning advice for severe stains.

Pile Shedding / Fluff

Wool rugs normally have mild shedding. Fluff/ shedding is also common in some of the man-made rugs (acrylic, viscose, polyester). Shedding is normally most noticeable in the first several months of use and will reduce over time.

We recommend regular vacuuming to remove any excess fluff or fibres.

Sprouting / Long Threads

Some strands of the rug pile may appear longer than the rest of the pile. Do not try to pull these strands from the rug, instead simply trim the longer stands with sharp scissors.

Marks / Creases

Minor creases may occur during the packaging process. Any marks or creases that appear upon delivery are normal and will reduce with regular vacuuming.
